What are the responsibilities and job description for the Experienced Haas CNC Setup / Operator position at St. Pete CNC?
Take ownership of a job from blueprint to finished part. St. Pete CNC is looking for an experienced Haas CNC Setup / Operator who can confidently set up and run equipment, maintain tight tolerances, and take pride in producing quality work.
If you bring at least three years of hands-on CNC setup and operating experience, strong Haas machine skills, and a sharp eye for detail, we’d like to hear from you.
What you’ll do
- Set up Haas CNC mills and/or lathes, including tooling, workholding, tool touch-offs, and offsets.
- Load and indicate parts and fixtures, then establish accurate work offsets.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, setup instructions, and GD&T.
- Read G-code and M-code, and make appropriate program or offset adjustments at the machine.
- Select suitable cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for the job.
- Complete first-piece inspection before continuing production, then inspect parts throughout the run.
- Use precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, and indicators.
- Monitor tool wear, troubleshoot machining and setup issues, and make adjustments to maintain quality and tolerances.
- Document inspections as required and follow established quality procedures.
- Keep your work area clean, organized, and safe.
What you’ll bring
- At least 3 years of hands-on CNC machining experience, including setup and operation.
- Strong experience with Haas CNC mills and/or lathes. Haas control experience is strongly preferred.
- The ability to take a job from print and setup instructions through production with minimal supervision.
- Confidence reading G-code and M-code and making appropriate machine-side adjustments.
- A solid understanding of workholding, tooling, offsets, speeds, feeds, and precision measurement.
- Careful attention to detail, dependable work habits, and a commitment to safe, high-quality production.
- The ability to work well with others as part of a growing machining team.
