General Summary
The Church Housekeeper ensures that St. Paul’s United Church of Christ remains a clean, well-maintained, and welcoming environment for worship, fellowship, and community events. This role involves performing daily housekeeping duties, coordinating minor repairs, and assisting with facility-related needs.
Responsibilities
- Facility Cleanliness: Perform routine cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, and waxing floors, vacuuming pews and carpets, dusting, sanitizing restrooms, and washing windows.
- Church Space Preparation: Ensure worship areas, fellowship halls, and meeting spaces are neat, clean, and arranged appropriately for services and events.
- Repairs & Maintenance: Report significant maintenance needs to the Buildings & Grounds Committee.
- Grounds Upkeep: Maintain exterior spaces, including weekly grounds inspection for removal of trash, etc., watering potted flowers and flower beds. During winter months, when needed communicate snow removal needs to third party contractor and check sidewalks for ice/snow – may apply ice melt when needed.
- Safety & Security: Follow proper safety protocols when handling cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Event Assistance: Provide setup and cleanup support for church events, ensuring spaces remain organized before and after gatherings.
- Organization: Neatly organize, store, clean, and preserve church decor, including paraments, and historic church items.
- Inventory & Budgeting: Track expenses for cleaning supplies and equipment within budget guidelines; coordinate supply orders with the church office and Buildings & Grounds Committee.
- Other Duties: Support committees and groups with special projects. Maintain a checklist and calendar of tasks performed.
Requirements
· Experience: At least two (2) years of experience in housekeeping, maintenance, or custodial work
· Knowledge of: Cleaning techniques, basic maintenance procedures, and safety practices for handling cleaning chemicals and equipment.
· Skills & Abilities: Ability to work independently, follow written and verbal instructions, lift up to 50 lbs, and maintain organized workspaces.
· Driver’s License: Must have a valid driver's license for transportation of supplies or equipment when necessary.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour
