Duties
- Develop and deliver comprehensive math lessons aligned with middle school curriculum standards, focusing on algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, and discrete math.
- Incorporate educational technology tools to create interactive and IT-integrated lessons that cater to various learning styles.
- Design and implement assessments, including standardized tests, to evaluate student progress and understanding.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively while fostering a positive learning environment that encourages student participation.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, lesson planning, and instructional strategies to ensure consistent educational quality.
- Provide individualized tutoring and academic advising to support students’ unique needs and promote their success.
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to teaching science, research methodologies, and laboratory experiences such as dissection, microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, cell biology, organic chemistry, and laboratory safety protocols.
- Adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse cultural backgrounds and varying learning styles.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and behavioral observations in compliance with educational regulations.
Requirements
- Proven experience teaching middle school students with a strong background in math topics including algebra, geometry, calculus, differential equations, discrete math, trigonometry, and proof-based reasoning.
- Demonstrated ability to develop engaging curricula that incorporate educational technology and IT tools for interactive lessons.
- Experience working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds and adapting instruction accordingly.
- Strong classroom management skills combined with effective communication skills for working with teenagers and collaborating with colleagues.
- Knowledge of standardized testing procedures and experience preparing students for assessments.
- Familiarity with science disciplines such as biology (including cell biology, genetics), microbiology (including dissection), biochemistry (including molecular biology), organic chemistry, laboratory safety protocols, and research laboratory experience is preferred.
- Ability to implement curriculum effectively while ensuring compliance with educational standards and regulations.
- Previous high school or middle school teaching experience is highly desirable; private school experience is a plus.
- Skills in instructional design, lesson planning, proofreading of instructional materials, mentoring students or teachers, and integrating learning technology into daily lessons are essential.
- A commitment to continuous professional growth through research activities or participation in library services related to education or scientific research is valued.
