What are the responsibilities and job description for the Middle School Math, Science and ELA position at Heart of Mary School?
Responsibilities:
· Follow school schedules and arrive promptly for duties: 7:20 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. ON TIME ARRIVAL IS VERY IMPORTANT IN SETTING THE TONE OF THE SCHOOL DAY. Once students arrive, teachers must remain in their classrooms.
· Remain at school for the entire school day and inform the principal in advance, when it is necessary to be absent from duties or leave the premises for any reason. It is understood that things happen but we are limited in subs and available teachers, our numbers have increased and mixing classes is an ABSOLUTE LAST RESORT!
· Supervise students at all times i.e. classroom, cafeteria, restroom, playground, church etc.
· Try to avoid leaving your class unattended for any reason. If you have an emergency contact the office or send a message in Group Me (schoolwide messaging app)
· Any fundraising efforts MUST BE presented to the principal and approved by the Board of Directors. ABSOLUTE NO MONEY COLLECTION SHOULD BE DONE IN THE CLASSROOM.
· Maintain optimal relationships in a professional and collegial manner with all students, parents, fellow teachers and staff, the principal, pastor and school community.
· Complete all assigned duties and obligations before checking out at the end of the school year.
· Accept additional duties as assigned by the principal.
· Recognize and support the unique mission of Faith based teachings by speaking, acting, and instructing consistently with the teachings that encourage faith based beliefs, morals, and values
· Foster intellectual and spiritual development of students by teaching and acting in accordance with the mission, philosophy, objectives and policies of Heart of Mary School.
· Strive to model the teachings of Jesus in attitude and example.
· Attend faculty meetings, parent conferences, school programs, assemblies, liturgies and religious activities as indicated on the school calendar or other activities as requested by the principal.
· Complete the Safe Environment Training and renew annually.
· Follow all policies stated in the local faculty and student handbooks.
· Teach assigned academic classes in a professional and effective manner and perform out-of-classroom duties as assigned by the principal.
· Prepare academic plans, which include appropriate activities, to ensure that academic progress is occurring in accordance with the prescribed curriculum and turn them in weekly.
· Use varied teaching strategies and technology that will support all types of learners.
· Keep accurate and appropriate grade reports and other reports required by the school and state.
· Stay current with educational research and participate in professional development, as directed by the principal.
· Maintain a clean environment, establish consistent rules and routines, and follow the school’s discipline program and safety rules in order to provide a safe learning environment for all students.
· Assist in the enforcement of school rules, in and out of the classroom.
· Fulfill all requirements of assigned supervisory duties.
