Security Supervisor (Unarmed)

Location: Cumberland, MD   

Pay Rate: $22.00 per hour   

Schedule: Full-Time | Monday-Friday

Summary

The Security Supervisor oversees daily security operations to protect company assets, personnel, and property, supervises security staff, coordinates onsite security activities, and ensures compliance with all applicable regulations. The ideal candidate is tech-savvy, exercises sound judgment, and is motivated to grow within the company.   

Essential Functions

• Supervise daily security operations, personnel, and site safety.
• Monitor CCTV, access control, and alarm systems; respond to incidents and emergencies.
• Conduct patrols and identify security and safety risks.
• Manage visitor access, credentials, keys, and property controls.
• Coordinate with law enforcement and emergency responders.
• Maintain reports, logs, and investigations using computer-based systems.
• Support loss prevention, risk management, and emergency response programs.
• Protect confidential, PII, and PHI information.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage all security department personnel.
• Create and maintain staffing schedules; address call-offs and coverage needs.
• Evaluate performance and conduct reviews; recommend hiring, promotion, discipline, or termination actions.
• Coordinate training, professional development, and performance improvement.
• Submit employee grievances and personnel matters to Human Resources.

Position Type & Expected Hours of Work

• Typical schedule: Monday–Friday, (Full-Time)
• Schedule may vary based on business needs with advance notice.
• This position regularly requires long hours, flexible availability, weekends, and coverage during inclement weather or when other security personnel are unavailable.

Travel

Travel is minimal and primarily local during business hours. Occasional out-of-area or overnight travel may be required during onboarding or offsite training.   

Required Education & Experience

• Minimum 4 years of supervisory or responsible security experience, or equivalent education/experience.
• Maryland State Guard License required; prior Security Supervisor experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Proven ability to supervise security teams and manage site operations.
• Strong computer and technical skills, including security systems and scheduling/reporting software.
• Ability to remain calm in emergencies and demonstrate growth potential within the organization.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in high-security environments (commercial, industrial, or large facilities).
• Experience with staff scheduling and workforce management.
• CPR / First Aid certification (a plus).
• Professionally recognized security certifications are highly desirable.
