Position: Middle School Mathematics Teacher
Grade Levels: 5th – 8th Grade
St. Michael’s Episcopal Day School (SMEDS), a co-educational Episcopal school serving 240 students in grades Preschool through 8, located in Carmichael, California, seeks an experienced full-time Middle School Mathematics Teacher to join our dynamic team for the 2026-2027 year and beyond. The ideal candidate will be responsible for teaching mathematics to students in grades 5–8, including Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and Geometry. The role requires a commitment to fostering an engaging, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students. We anticipate a start date of August 1, 2026.
Core Responsibilities
- Teach Mathematics to Middle School students in grades 5-8, with a main focus on Grade 5 and Grade 6 Math, Pre-Algebra, and Algebra.
- Develop and implement differentiated instruction to meet students' varied learning needs.
- Collaborate with colleagues to design and deliver an integrated curriculum that aligns with the school's educational goals. Experience with concrete, pictorial, and abstract instruction is a plus.
- Provide regular feedback to students and parents regarding academic progress and development.
- Participate in faculty meetings, school events, and professional development opportunities.
- Actively contribute to the school’s mission, values, and community.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Math, or a related field (required); Master's Degree (preferred)
- Valid teaching credential or equivalent certification (preferred)
- Experience teaching middle-school math, with extensive knowledge in Pre-Algebra and Algebra
- Experience teaching in a differentiated classroom environment
- Familiarity with teaching co-curricular, relevant topics (financial literacy, broader STEM studies)
