Hiring Range: Starting at $110,000.00/salaried

The actual compensation for this position will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for delegating or performing daily administrative duties of the unit including staffing and scheduling, daily communications, materials management, and bed control.
  • Initiates and facilitates coordination and collaboration among disciplines regarding planning and provision of patient care for the unit. Implements unit plans and programs under direct supervision of the Director of Surgical Services.
  • Serves as a resource in promoting productive interdepartmental relationships, and coordinates rapidly changing and complex needs with all members of the health team. Facilitates collaborative practice with physicians and other providers with effective, timely, and factual communication.
  • Assists in the coordination of quality improvement activities on the unit by monitoring/auditing patient care provided on the unit.
  • Assists in fiscal planning, budget preparation and providing high-quality, cost-effective patient care.
  • Analyzes and puts new knowledge into practice that is acquired from conferences and other professional sources to support both departmental and organizational goals.
  • Follows and supports department and hospital policies and recommends and assists in the implementation of policies under the guidance of the Director of Surgical Services. Ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements within the unit.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of short- and long-range planning for the unit, programs, and projects.
  • Assists in interviewing and selecting nursing staff. Develops and monitors unit staffing patterns to ensure patient safety, quality care, productivity and excellent patient outcomes while meeting applicable standards. Responsible for providing leadership to personnel.
  • Provides ongoing feedback to staff concerning their performance, implementing corrective action as needed and per human resource policy. Ensures performance evaluations are thorough, timely and include goal setting for each individual. Establishes systems for open communication and problem solving, encourages employee involvement in safety and health standards, hazard analysis, and performance improvement initiatives. Promotes growth and development in self and others. Develops and documents orientation and ongoing training programs for departmental personnel
  • Effectively uses KRONOS time and attendance system and other human resource information systems and processes. Effectively interprets and implements Human Resource policies and consults with Human Resources as necessary. Encourages and supports applicable certification of all eligible staff.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Assigned associates.

Education, Training & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing required, Master’s preferred.
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
  • Experience with electronic/hybrid medical records. Meditech experience preferred. Ideal candidate will have a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in acute care.
  • Ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1 year leadership or management experience.
