At St. Mary School, our Extended Care program provides a safe, structured, faith-filled, and nurturing environment for students in Grades K–8 after standard school hours. We guide our students using our core "5 Be-Attitudes": Be Christ-Like, Be Respectful, Be Safe, Be Helpful, and Be Responsible.
Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic PM Extended Care Coordinator to supervise and engage with K–8 students during our aftercare hours. This individual will oversee afternoon attendance, direct quiet study/homework time, manage outdoor play/snack routines, and lead active/quiet gym zones until parent pick-up.
Key Responsibilities
Program Supervision & Structure:
- Supervise students in Grades K–8 from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM.
- Facilitate designated quiet time (3:30–4:00 PM) for homework, reading, and quiet activities.
- Supervise outdoor recreation (weather permitting) and complimentary snack distribution (4:00–4:30 PM) alongside co-staff.
- Coordinate daily active & quiet gym zones (e.g., soccer, basketball, board games, puzzles) from 4:30–5:30 PM
Safety & Student Culture:
- Model and reinforce program expectations and the 5 "Be-Attitudes" grounded in Christian values.
- Ensure adherence to school guidelines, including the strict no-cell-phone policy for students.
- Maintain safe supervisory ratios, indoor/outdoor safety rules, and proper seasonal clothing readiness.
Parent & Student Interaction:
- Greet parents/guardians during pick-up and manage accurate student checkout processes.
- Ensure all students are picked up by 5:30 PM and log late pick-ups
Qualifications & Skills
- Education & Experience: Experience working with elementary and/or middle school children in a school, childcare, camp, or church setting preferred.
- Faith & Character: Strong alignment with Catholic/Christian values and a desire to foster a positive, respectful community.
- Communication & Safety: Strong verbal communication skills, dependability, and basic knowledge of age-appropriate games and structured activities.
- Requirements: Ability to pass required diocesan/school background checks and complete mandatory child protection training (e.g., Virtus/Protecting God’s Children).
