We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Bookkeeper and HR Coordinator for school and parishes to manage financial records, oversee payroll, and support human resources functions. Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate bookkeeping records using accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, or similar systems.
- Process payroll efficiently, ensuring timely payments and compliance with applicable laws.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoice processing, bill payments, and collections.
- Perform bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and account analysis to ensure financial accuracy.
- Record journal entries, perform general ledger accounting, and ensure adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Reconcile accounts regularly through detailed account analysis and double-entry bookkeeping practices.
- Prepare financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and other documentation necessary for internal review or external audits.
- Support HR functions by maintaining employee records, assisting with onboarding processes, and managing payroll processing tasks.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and organizational policies across all financial activities.
- Assist in the development of internal controls to safeguard assets and improve operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role within non-profit or educational organizations.
- Strong proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks (including QuickBooks Online), Xero, Sage, or comparable systems.
- Knowledge of corporate accounting principles, GAAP standards, and financial software integration.
- Experience with payroll processing, accounts payable/receivable management, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation.
- Familiarity with spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets) for data analysis and report writing.
- Ability to perform 10-key typing accurately for data entry tasks.
- Excellent understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, and account analysis.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in maintaining accurate records and performing account reconciliations.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with staff members across schools and parishes effectively.
