Job Summary:
Assists the I&I Supervisor with the Inflow and Infiltration Abatement Program, the Manhole Rehabilitation Project, the Sewer Reline Project, and Right-of-Way Clearing Project, and with the ongoing monitoring of installation of grease interceptors and mandatory maintenance reports. Position reports to the I&I Supervisor.Essential Functions:

Training and/or Education:
High school diploma or G.E.D. and two or more years of job-related experience
Experience:
Or equivalent technical training, education, and/or experience
Licenses or Certificates:
Eligible to obtain Maryland Class B CDL with Tanker and Air Brake Endorsements within 1 year
NASSCO Certification (PACP, LACP, MACP) required within 6 months
Wastewater Collections Class 2 License within 2 years

Physical Demands:
Work requires occasional strenuous effort. For example, bending and lifting tools, equipment, or materials of 30 to 60 pounds.
Unusual Demands:
Work environment involves high risks with exposure to potentially dangerous situations or unusual environmental stress which require a range of safety and other precautions, e.g., aggressive human behavior, extreme outdoor weather conditions, confined workspace, or similar situations where conditions cannot be controlled.

Job Summary:

Position reports to the I&I Supervisor.Essential Functions:
- Coordinates with the I&I Team and Wastewater Collections Superintendent or Senior Wastewater Operator for the placement of I&I measuring devices to record sewage flows in various parts of the sewer system, uses information collected to determine the amount of I&I entering the system.
- Assists with the monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness of I&I rehabilitation projects and assists with records associated with the Commission’s I&I program.
- Assists with the monitoring and inspection of grease traps.
- Assists with the collection and integration of field-acquired GPS data of various water and sewer appurtenances.
- Performs preventive/corrective maintenance work on the sewer system.
- Assists in sewer backup calls.
- Televises sewer and service lines, manholes, and cleanouts to identify potential problem areas.
- Fields questions from the public, both in person and over the telephone, concerning responsibilities of the Department. Passes on the questions to others within the Department when necessary.
- Required to perform standby/on-call duties for the Collections Department

- Ability to gain thorough knowledge of St. Mary’s County Metropolitan Commission policies and procedures.
- Ability to act as a representative of St. Mary’s County Metropolitan Commission to the public.
- Ability to gain knowledge of St. Mary’s County Metropolitan Commission water and wastewater system and plant operations, including those that pertain to I&I and industrial use.
- Ability to gain knowledge of department practices and procedures.
- Ability to effectively communicate with other staff members; ability to coordinate and maintain effective working relationships with other professionals.
- Ability to accurately record and report data.
- Ability to use the computer and related software to accurately record and report data.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and established procedures for operating, repairing, removing, and installing equipment/materials as well as for ensuring safety
- Knowledge of relevant maintenance and repair practices and procedures as they relate to sewer lines and the operation of a commercial vehicle.
- Ability to use GPS equipment and GIS mapping software.
- Ability to wear appropriate PPE for confined space entry, including respiratory gear.
- Ability to obtain State of Maryland Wastewater Collection Class 2 certification within 2 years.
