Physical Education Teacher – Athletic Director
St. Martin's-in-the-Field Episcopal School is an accredited, co-educational independent day school in Severna Park, MD, enrolling 240 students (Preschool-8th). St. Martin's seeks a Physical Education Teacher/Athletic Director for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will be energetic, flexible, and child-focused and will have a genuine interest in joining a small and collaborative school community and providing a positive learning experience for each student. This person would also embrace the families at the school and demonstrate a passion for helping children develop socially, emotionally, spiritually, and physically. Coaching opportunities are also available after school hours.
A successful candidate for this position will have:
- An undergraduate degree in physical education (if not degreed in physical education, equivalency in experience)
- Experience teaching PE/Wellness to preschool through middle school aged students
- An ability to differentiate instruction
- A desire to work as part of a team
- Good time management skills
- Initiative, flexibility, and creative problem-solving
- Ability to teach outdoors in varying weather conditions throughout the school year
- Ability to lift and move equipment
Duties include:
- Instruction in physical education and health
- Athletic Director duties required for middle school athletics program—scheduling practices and games, arranging for officials, driving bus to practices and games
- Collaborating with on-campus teaching teams to ensure consistent standards for instruction and discipline
A candidate must successfully complete the required background check. St. Martin’s offers a competitive benefits package. The salary range for this position is $48,000-$55,000.
