Position Summary
Under the direction of the Lead Custodian or designated supervisor, this position performs interior and exterior janitorial duties for the church and its properties. The qualified person must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be professional and respectful, and have a clean, neat appearance while on duty.
Duties
- Vacuum, sweep, and mop flooring and stairs.
- Clean and sanitize the bathroom.
- Clean sinks, countertops, microwave, stove, refrigerator and freezer, floor, and surfaces as required.
- Restock supplies in bathrooms, kitchen, and other common areas.
- Empty all trash cans, replace liners, and clean receptacles as necessary.
- Dust and clean all furniture and other surfaces, including windowsills and windows.
- Ensure that all areas of the property are clean and sanitized.
- Assess the condition of the assigned areas and make recommendations to the supervisor/lead custodian promptly.
- Maintain janitor closets in a clean, organized, and safe manner.
- Proper labeling, dilution, and use of all chemicals.
- Maintain janitorial equipment in a clean, safe, and operable condition.
- Utilize designated, required personal protective equipment/supplies (gloves and masks).
- General maintenance of grounds, and other routine maintenance and janitorial duties as assigned including, mowing, trimming, pruning, fertilizing, water, pest/weed control, and snow removal.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Six months or more related experience preferred.
- Must wear uniform top provided or appropriate clothing and have a neat appearance while on duty.
- Always professional when representing the church.
- Completion of Safe Sanctuary and Sexual Harassment training (within a 90-day Probationary Period) or as required.
- Experience in performing Janitorial duties.
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and client/customer service skills.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to work effectively with a team.
- Ability to work independently as needed to support the group effort.
- Experienced in proper labeling and diluting all chemicals, and cleaning aids to achieve desired outcomes.
- Must be able to walk and/or stand over 90% of the time.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Must be able to use hands, arms, and legs.
- Maintain excellent appearance.
- Routinely work in inclement weather conditions (snow removal).
Job Type: Part-time
