Job Summary

The Custodial Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of custodial services in assigned areas, including all routine and specialty work and all campus events. The supervisor will be expected to work closely with customer representatives as well as other members of management to provide consistently high levels of customer satisfaction.

Job Description

In this role you will provide daily supervision and motivation to the teams and assist them with identifying and implementing continuous improvement practices; develop problem-solving techniques and long-range plans; ensure quality and service standards are consistently met; train, motivate, and develop employees; conduct regular and frequent quality assurance. This individual will direct and manage staff on the effective and efficient cleaning of all classroom buildings, administrative buildings, residential halls, athletics facilities and performing arts spaces and may be called upon to respond to and manage facilities emergencies.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm. Weekend availability required from time-to-time for special events.

Compensation: $30.00-$35.00 per hour

Essential Functions

  • Assign and supervise work performed by hourly custodial employees
  • Perform regular cleaning quality inspections for all areas; document inspection results and initiate corrective actions as needed
  • Coordinate and supervise customer requested function set-ups, snow removal operations and respond to emergency conditions
  • Lead, provide support to, or perform special projects (short and long-range), initiatives, and tasks as assigned/directed
  • Responsible for the ordering of custodial supplies and stocking where necessary (including linens)
  • Conduct team meetings
  • Critical Operations Personnel: required to provide on-site support during emergency situations as determined by the Director of Facilities

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Three to five years of supervisory experience in a customer-focused custodial operation required
  • Specialized knowledge of effective custodial and housekeeping procedures and cleaning systems required
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills required
  • Demonstrated experience using various computer software systems and applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Google Documents along with familiarity with work order systems
  • Knowledge of industry recognized Green Cleaning principles is strongly preferred
  • Additional language skills in either Spanish or Portuguese strongly preferred

Physical Requirements

Must be physically able to perform all custodial duties required of the custodial team. A significant amount of stair climbing, bending, and kneeling is required. Must be able to lift or move a minimum of 50 pounds.
