What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chaplain position at St Luke Lutheran Home?
Summary:
Attends to the spiritual and emotional health of residents, tenants, families and staff of St. Luke Lutheran Home, Riverview Terrace Assisted Living and The Highlands Independent Living.
Duties:
Chaplain will provide spiritual and emotional care to residents and tenants in the Nursing Home, Assisted Living and Independent Living.
Will lead Sunday worship services weekly in both buildings.
Will provide bible studies, devotions and support residents'/tenants' spiritual needs regardless of denomination or religion.
Will facilitate relationships and communication between the residents/tenants and spiritual leaders (pastors/priests) in the community within the guidelines of HIPAA.
Chaplain will participate in local ministerial gatherings and community worship.
Chaplain will attend staff meetings and management meetings as required. Will provide monthly reports to the Administrator and annually to the Board of Directors as requested.
Chaplain will participate and lead memorial and prayer services for residents/tenants and staff as necessary.
Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university. Masters of Divinity degree or other requirements for ordination in the person's denomination. Chaplain must be ordained and a minimum of at least one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education is preferred.
Experience in working with geriatrics or with the elderly in a parish setting is a plus, as well as previous chaplaincy experience.
Mature individual with a genuine Christian worldview that can be expressed verbally in the service of helping others.
Good writing and computer skills.
Ability to work with other staff as a team. Exhibit interpersonal skills that foster cooperation and mutual encouragement.
