Summary:

The Technology Teacher fulfills the mission of the Catholic school by guiding, inspiring, and educating students in a loving, Christ-centered environment. The teacher will support the Catholic School in all its IT needs and teach technology to elementary school students in a Catholic environment and provide IT support with the NWEA-MAP testing. The Teacher is to be immediately responsible to the principal for the carrying out of policies of the school and the Archdiocese of San Antonio as they relate to the function of the school, the classroom, and the immediate contact with students and parents.  

Position Responsibilities:

• Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school
• Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
• Supports and adheres to the policies and procedures of the school and Archdiocese of San Antonio, including the Religious Standards for Catholic School Employees
• Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters
• Adheres to safety training and protocols on a daily basis and takes precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of self, others.   
• Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information.
• Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy is mandatory.
• Every employee is required to take a solution-oriented approach in their interactions and undertakings, as well as being a team member that promotes collaboration and commitment to the Mission and Vision of the organization.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Instructional Strategies

• Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of school’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
• Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
• Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, Department of Catholic Schools, and administrative regulations.
• Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
• Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
• Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to DCS requirements
• Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
• Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.

Student Growth and Development

• Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits
• Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
• Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the principal.
• Be a positive role model for students and support mission of Catholic education.

Classroom Management and Organization

• Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
• Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials as required.

Communication

• Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
• Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members
• Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.

Professional Growth and Development

• Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills
• Keep informed of and comply with Department of Catholic school regulations and policies for classroom teachers. 
• Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other document required.
• Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

Education

• A Bachelor’s degree in content area

License and Credentials

• 12 credit hours in education courses or a valid, appropriate state certificate, as outlined in the Texas Catholic Conference Education Department standards.
• Instructor Certification to teach elementary school computer science.
• Google Educator Certification
• Technology proficiency in the areas of word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and internet use for educational purposes and multimedia presentations.
• Demonstrated competency in the subject assigned area(s).
• Must pass archdiocesan Safe Environment Requirements and background screening.

Essential Job Requirements:

• Price and order hardware and software, as well as troubleshoot and repair issues that arise.
• Work with school Teaching Staff as technology support to ensure that curriculum and teacher training/skill supports a program for all students to receive adequate technology training commensurate with their respective grade levels. 
• Develops and implements the technology education program of the school. 
• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot hardware and software. 
• Support staff with NWEA-MAP testing.
• Keep an accurate inventory of hardware and software.
• Support staff in their hardware and software needs. 
• Maintain network and internet access. 
• Prepare and deliver technology related professional development for teachers.
• Keep all sensitive matters such as passwords and grades confidential.
• Be available after school hours to assist teachers. 
• Actively engage in professional development.
• Do research and keep abreast of new technology, software, current copyright standards, and ensure school wide compliance. 

Minimum Knowledge and Skills:

• Knowledge of subject assigned and general knowledge of curriculum and instruction
• Able to use and manipulate Google Classroom. 
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. 
• Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team;
• Must have good written and verbal skills.
• Maybe required to work some weekends and nights.
• Required to work a minimum a full school day
• Must have good critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
