Job Summary:
St. Louis Print Group is seeking an experienced, organized, and detailed-oriented individual to join our prepress department full-time. This position uses designated prepress tools and software to create, design and prepare printed pieces for production on our conventional sheetfed printing presses as well as digital equipment. Must be well-versed in color management and have a thorough understanding of the printing process.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Strong working knowledge of preflighting, trapping and Preps imposition
- Thorough knowledge of Prinergy, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Enfocus Pitstop, ArtPro , and Kodak Preps
- G-7 Color management training is required
- Basic understanding of sheetfed printing
- Receive and manipulate files electronically from email, and FTP.
- Troubleshoot customer files, loads fonts, inspects graphics and color match.
- Prepare files for output to plate.
- Lays-out/impose files on printer templates. Set up templates as needed.
- Out-put files to plate setter.
- Produce proofs, soft proofs, and mock-ups as needed.
- Communicate with team members on projects, schedules, job requirements, and absences.
- Must be dependable and self-motivated
- Effective time management skills and the ability to thrive in a fast paced work environment
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Ability to work overtime hours when required
- High attention to detail and quality
- Ability to communicate well, take verbal direction, and follow instructions
- Perform additional job duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must be proficient in Adobe in Design, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat professional
- Must be proficient in retrieving and managing artwork files in both Macintosh and Windows operating systems
- Must know industry standard pre-press requirements
- Proficiency with Prinergy, Quark Xpress, Enfocus Pitstop, MS Office, Extensis Suitcase, Fuji XMF and Esko Grapholis are a plus
- Experience with Lithographic and Flexographic setup and platemaking is preferred
- Experience with setup for die cutting, flat sheet and web presses is preferred
- Proficiency with Imposition and Step and Repeat would be beneficial
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high energy, and challenging environment
- Occasionally may need to lift 50 lbs. to a hand truck or shelf, to restock materials
- Must occasionally perform labor intense maintenance
Education and Experience:
- High school education or equivalent required
- 5 years pre-press production preferred
