The Information Services Department is seeking a part-time Information Services Specialist to provide quality reference service to meet the information needs of customers and staff.
The mission of the St. Louis County Library is to provide the resources and services to enrich individual minds, enhance lives and expand perspectives. SLCL is an award winning library system with branches throughout St. Louis County. We have transformed into a meaningful community resource with updated facilities and an array of programs and partnerships that serve over 860,000 patrons.
Salary: $23.72 an hour
Hours:
Monday, Thursday: 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Tuesday, Wednesday: 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
One Sunday per month
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Assists Library customers and staff with the use of reference and circulation materials in print and electronic formats to respond to needs in a timely manner.
2. Responds to all questions to meet customer and staff needs.
3. Maintains and develops the reference collection to provide the best resources for reference use.
4. Works cooperatively with Reference Department staff and others to ensure quality reference service.

Job Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree or other advanced degree
- Must possess a commitment to a high level of public service to Library customers
- Must possess excellent communication and organization skills

- Ability to bend to very low shelves or reach to very high shelves when retrieving Library materials
- Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.

- Ability to operate various types of Library equipment
- Ability to use a pc, word processing and e-mail
