Position Summary
The Community Relations Liaison supports the mission of the St. Louis Blind Hockey Association doing business as St. Louis Blues Blind Hockey Club (STLBBHC) by strengthening relationships, expanding community awareness, and fostering partnerships that advance inclusive and accessible Blind Hockey programming. This role serves as a central point of communication between the organization, its players, families, volunteers, community partners, and donors.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent STLBBHC at Board meetings (4 Zoom, a year), and outreach activities to promote awareness of Blind Hockey and adaptive sports.
- Cultivate and maintain partnerships with nonprofits, civic groups, schools, disability service organizations, ophthalmologists, and local businesses.
- Support fundraising and sponsorship initiatives, including outreach, stewardship, and partner communication.
- Delegate volunteer engagement when needed, including recruitment, onboarding, and communication.
- Assist with events such as tournaments, and fundraisers, ensuring professional and mission-aligned execution.
- Contribute to communication efforts, including sharing program updates, writing press releases, supporting marketing materials, and volunteer service hours as needed.
Position Hiring Timeline
- Application Period: Open immediately and accepted until the position is filled.
- Review of Applications: Rolling review every 1–2 weeks by STLBBHC leadership.
- Interview Window: Initial interviews scheduled within two weeks of application review; follow-up interviews as needed.
- Selection & Offer: Anticipated within 4–6 weeks of application submission.
- Desired Start Date: As soon as practical following acceptance, prior to the end of the 2025-26 Season, in April 2026.
Qualifications
- Minimal experience in nonprofit outreach, community engagement, or relationship-building roles preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and represent the organization professionally in public settings.
- Commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and the mission of Blind Hockey.
- Availability for occasional evenings and weekends.

The St. Louis Blind Blues Hockey Club provides visually impaired athletes with opportunities to learn, play, and compete in the sport of hockey through accessible programming, community support, and inclusive engagement. Our MISSION is to provide blind or visually impaired youth and adults the opportunity to participate fully in the sport of Blind Hockey. Our program FOCUS is on the successful development of skating and hockey skills while emphasizing sportsmanship, teamwork, competition, and an overall love for the game. Our GOAL is to create an active hockey community for both recreational and competitive players with skills and ability to participate in games regionally and nationally with the other U.S. and Canadian Blind Hockey organizations.
