Position Summary

Saint Leo the Great Catholic School seeks a dedicated, faith-filled, and student-centered Instructional Assistant to support teachers in providing a high-quality Catholic education. The Instructional Assistant works collaboratively with classroom teachers to foster academic excellence, spiritual growth, and positive social development in a nurturing Catholic school environment.

Essential Responsibilities

Classroom Support

• Assist the classroom teacher with daily instructional activities and lesson implementation.
• Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce academic concepts and skills.
• Support differentiated instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
• Assist with classroom organization, preparation of instructional materials, and learning centers.
• Help maintain a positive, safe, and productive learning environment.

Student Supervision

• Supervise students during classroom activities, lunch, recess, arrival, dismissal, and other assigned times.
• Promote appropriate student behavior consistent with school expectations and Catholic values.
• Assist students with organization, classroom routines, and transitions throughout the school day.

Administrative Support

• Prepare classroom materials, copies, displays, and bulletin boards.
• Assist with record keeping, grading, and data collection as directed by the teacher.
• Support communication efforts with families and school staff when requested.

Faith Formation

• Support and model the mission, philosophy, and teachings of the Catholic Church.
• Participate in school liturgies, prayer services, and faith-based activities.
• Foster a respectful and caring environment rooted in Gospel values.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, students, and families.
• Commitment to supporting the mission of Catholic education.
• Practicing Catholic preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift instructional materials and supplies.
• Ability to supervise students in both indoor and outdoor settings.
