Job Description
Responsible for the physiological support of patients requiring the heart - lung machine during surgery. This includes assuming the functions of the heart and lungs, brain protection and adjusting to minute to minute metabolic changes. Provide hemodynamic support through the use of the intra-aortic balloon pump and other technology.
Qualifications
Work requires the knowledge of theories, principles, & concepts normally acquire through completion of a Bachelor's degree in Bio-Medical or closely related field and two to three years of previous work related experience. Certification required as a Certified Clinical Perfusionist by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ACP) and Perfusionist Licensure by NJ State. Requires analytical ability to collect information from diverse sources, apply professional principles in performing various analyses, and summarize the information and data in order to solve problems and design relatively complex systems and programs.

St. Joseph’s University Medical Center is an academic tertiary care medical center and state designated trauma center, located on the Paterson campus, regularly accepts referrals of difficult or unusual cases from other hospitals and physicians and performs both complex and routine procedures.
