- Review medical records and documentation to verify coding accuracy and completeness before billing.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims by communicating with insurance providers and patients to resolve discrepancies or issues.
- Maintain detailed records of billing activities, payments received, and outstanding balances for efficient account management.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses or procedures that require additional documentation for proper coding.
- Stay updated on changes in healthcare regulations, coding guidelines, and payer policies to ensure ongoing compliance.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare documentation standards.
- Proficiency in medical coding including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, ICD coding systems, and DRG classifications.
- Experience with medical billing processes, including claim preparation, submission, follow-up, and collections.
