Catholic School Literacy Coach (Grades K–3)
In Partnership with the Indiana Literacy Cadre
Position Summary:
We are seeking a mission-driven educator to serve as a Literacy Coach for our K–3 program, supporting early reading achievement through evidence-based instruction rooted in the Science of Reading. This role includes modeling lessons, co-planning with teachers, and leading coaching cycles to improve classroom practice and student outcomes. The coach will work closely with the principal and Indiana Department of Education’s (IDOE) Literacy Cadre to ensure fidelity to instructional goals.
Primary Responsibilities:

Attend IDOE-provided training, including:
-
Week-long summer training
-
Twice-monthly Collaboration Network sessions (virtual or in-person)

Ongoing professional development aligned with early literacy best practices

Collaborate with K–3 teachers to:

Deepen understanding of the Science of Reading

Plan and deliver high-quality reading instruction
-
Use formative data to inform teaching
-
Lead focused coaching cycles tied to student growth

Partner with school leadership to:

Support schoolwide literacy initiatives

Maintain progress aligned with IDOE goals and Catholic school values

Provide professional development tailored to faculty needs

Maintain accurate records of coaching sessions, assessments, and training activities

Promote a culture of continuous improvement, faith, and excellence in literacy learning
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred

Valid Indiana Teaching License
-
At least five years of classroom experience, preferably in early elementary

Strong knowledge of evidence-based literacy instruction

Early Literacy Endorsement (preferred or willing to obtain this endorsement)
