What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Behavior Technician position at ST JOHNSBURY SCHOOL?
The St. Johnsbury School is looking for a Registred Behavior Technician to work with students across grade levels.
The successful candidate will have experience working with and building relationships with students. A willingness to work on teams of professionals (including classroom teachers, special educators, physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech language pathologist, behavior specialist, etc.) and with other paraeducators and the ability to follow behavior and academic plans is important. RBTs must have at minimum of an Associate's Degree, 48 hours of undergraduate credits, or have passed the ParaPro test or an equivalent basic skills assessment. An assessment must be completed prior to starting work if you do not have a degree or 48 credits and can be scheduled with the St. Johnsbury School District.
Additionally, RBT responsibilities include: supports and implements a student’s behavior support plan created by a board-certified behavior analyst or a Behavior Specialist in consultation with the BCBA. They provide ABA interventions that encourage socially acceptable replacement behaviors so students can build and improve upon their communication, social interaction, and problem-solving skills.
- Providing direct support 1:1 in and out of the classroom
- Following the behavior plan designed by the Behavior Specialist and BCBA
- Collecting and recording data based on student behavior
- Communicating with the students’ team regarding progress
RBTs also receive a stipend of $3000 beyond hourly wage.
The RBTs fall under the category of Paraeducator for the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The employee's benefits include paid sick days, emergency days, personal days, bereavement days, holidays, health insurance, dental insurance and life insurance, and college tuition reimbursement. RBTs are paid for 187 days each school year and follow the St. Johnsbury School calendar.
