What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building and Grounds Manager position at St. John's Episcopal Church?
The Building and Grounds Manager (B&G Manager) supports the mission of the parish and enhances our spiritual lives by ensuring that parishioners, visitors and staff of St John’s experience beautiful, clean and safe buildings and grounds. The B&G accomplishes this by supervising third party contractors, parish volunteers and their own time into one seamless whole.
Demonstrated ability to secure and coordinate outside contractors; demonstrated ability to physically perform building repairs and maintenance; demonstrated ability to manage own time with minimal supervision within a flexible schedule; ability to treat all people with respect.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Maintains Building and Grounds
Ensures day to day proper functionality of all mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and security systems of the building and property.
Plans for seasonal maintenance and required inspections
Such as elevator, fire systems
Informs Jr Warden and Rector of future B&G needs
Appropriately manages third party contracts
Handles emergencies as needed
Ensures cleanliness of Building and Grounds
Oversees janitorial and groundskeeping efforts and schedules and budgets
Contracts with and manages third party vendors
Fills in personally as necessary
Ensures trash and recyclables handled appropriately
Orders supplies
Performs Other Duties as Assigned
Supports events in and around the building
Performs and or Coordinates set-up and clean-up activities for events
Attends weekly and special staff meetings
Proposes B&G annual budget and operates within
Qualifications
Substantial experience in managing B&G efforts
Demonstrated competence with hand and power tools
Ability to perform some HVAC, electrical and plumbing repairs and emergencies
Ability to lift weights up to 50 lbs and to climb, crawl, stoop and kneel
Access to automobile and current, valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
Demonstrated effective time management and communication skills
