Job Summary
St. John Lutheran School in Kendallville, IN, is seeking a dedicated and energetic teacher to become our 4th grade teacher. This teacher will carry on the mission and ministry of St. John Lutheran School while providing for the daily instruction for approximately 20 4th grade students. The teacher will be responsible for teaching the core subjects, creating lesson plans, grading papers, and completing all other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Model and communicate the Christian faith throughout the day in both word and action.
- Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum plans aligned with educational standards and school philosophy.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all students.
- Foster positive relationships with children by understanding their individual needs and providing tailored support.
- Utilize strong communication skills to collaborate with staff, parents, and other school staff.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and classroom activities throughout the substitute period.
- Support children’s emotional well-being through nurturing interactions and behavior management strategies.
Experience
- Prior classroom experience working with elementary children is essential.
- Demonstrated expertise in lesson planning, curriculum development, and classroom management techniques.
- Experience working with children with diverse needs, including those requiring special education or behavioral support.
- Proven ability to work effectively with children from various backgrounds, including experience in private schools or similar environments.
- Strong communication skills to engage effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
