What are the responsibilities and job description for the Church Administrator position at St. John Lutheran Church?
St. John Lutheran Church is an inclusive and welcoming congregation in Sudbury, Massachusetts which actively serves our members and our community. We are seeking a Church Administrator to assist and support the operations of our church office and ministries.
Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with the Pastor(s), other staff, Council leadership, and ministry chairs to support the operations of the church
- Develop and manage congregational and public communications: monthly digital newsletter, weekly email, weekly print worship bulletin (as well as other seasonal services), Annual Report, regular print mailings, and other communications as needed
- Provide personal communications including greeting visitors to the church building and taking phone calls
- Post to social media (Facebook, Instagram) and the website (Squarespace)
- Maintain such records as the membership database, membership directory, church calendar, and archiving committee reports and minutes as they are provided
- Oversee ordering of office supplies and invoicing of operating expenses as needed
- Assist the Pastor with scheduling, communications, managing the prayer list, etc.
- Provide support for Church Ministries and Committees as needed
- Perform other duties as needed, e.g., collect mail and distribute accordingly, coordinate copy machine tech support, submit CORI applications and maintain files, etc.
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years’ experience in an administrative role
- Excellent organizational skills, able to multi-task, and able to work independently
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Confidence with either MS Windows or MacOS, and Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of Google Office Suite, Google calendar, Constant Contact, Sign-Up Genius, Zoom, Canva and Social Media (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube)
- Familiarity with or the ability to learn to manage a website using Squarespace (not create)
- Knowledge of church systems and liturgical language
- Excellent writing skills
Hours and Compensation
- This is a part-time job of 28-30 hours per week, with flexibility for some remote work
- The hourly rate is $25-27 per hour
