Position Summary
The Labor & Delivery RN provides comprehensive nursing care to mothers and newborns during labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery. This role requires experience in obstetric nursing and the ability to work in a high-acuity environment with skill and professionalism. Care is documented in the EPIC electronic medical record.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care during labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery.
- Monitor maternal and fetal well-being, interpreting and responding to changes in condition.
- Assist physicians and midwives during vaginal deliveries and obstetric procedures.
- Administer medications, IV therapy, and pain management interventions.
- Educate and support patients and families throughout the childbirth process.
- Document care, assessments, and interventions accurately in EPIC.
- Adhere to infection control, safety, and patient care standards.
Qualifications
- Current and valid RN license - required.
- BSN degree - preferred.
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP - required.
- Basic/AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification - preferred.
- Mother and baby experience - required.
- Postpartum and vaginal examination experience - a plus.
- Minimum 2 years recent experience.
Shift Details
- Night shift, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM.
- 3x12s, 36 hours per week guaranteed.
- Assignment dates: 05/25/2026 - 08/23/2026 (13 weeks).
- No on-call.
- Mesquite, Texas.
Compensation
- $2,016/week gross (36 guaranteed hours)
- Housing & meals stipend available for qualifying travelers (amount finalized with your recruiter within IRS/GSA limits)
- Local candidates: $56.00/hr
