Description Of Duties/Essential Functions
Under immediate supervision, for a period of six (6) to twelve (12) months, receives structured classroom and on-the-job training involving various facets of Agency-wide activities and operations relative to the processing of all types of taxes; as part of the training program receives and completes assignments of a routine nature in specific phases of the tax examining process; receives a combination of classroom and on-the-job training relative to tax laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures, research methods, communication skills and Computer usage/concepts; receives basic technical training in specialized operations to enable the trainee to assist in priority situations; after successful completion of the on-the-job and classroom instruction, during which periodic evaluations will be made, will qualify through promotion to fill targeted vacancies as a Revenue Tax Specialist I.
Minimum Requirements
Requires a Bachelor’s degree or eight years supportive tax related experience: requires ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; requires ability to profit from training received and become knowledgeable about the various tax laws and regulations enforced; requires ability to develop and maintain satisfactory working relationships with public and other employees; requires ability to develop and maintain satisfactory working relationships with the public and other employees; requires ability to absorb and understand a variety of information regarding the development and utilization of tax analysis techniques: requires ability to add, subtract, divide and multiply quickly and accurately either with or without a calculator; requires ability to learn utilization of Computer software and equipment; requires ability to obtain and/or convey necessary information in a tactful and diplomatic manner under difficult conditions; requires maturity and stability to make personal adjustments as necessitated by work assignments, job pressures and demands. Requires ability to converse and communicate clearly with taxpayer and their representatives. Lifts and carries up to 25 pounds.
