The Financial Counselor is responsible for interviewing, verifying insurance benefits, and assisting and performing financial case management for uninsured and underinsured individuals.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Evaluates patient financial information with potential financial difficulties and collaborates with social service personnel to aid eligible patients under state or federal programs.
- Uses insurance verification tools to obtain benefit information and shares it with patient/case management/billing.
- Coordinates and screens patients who do not qualify for state or federal assistance for charity programs.
- Counsels patients who do not qualify for assistance and establish payment arrangements.
- Contacts individuals who have been pre-admitted to establish payment arrangements if required.
