HVAC TECH I

JOB DESCRIPTION: The purpose of this position is to perform preventative, routine and assist with specialized maintenance duties involving troubleshooting, repair, and/or installation of all heating/cooling, refrigeration, ventilation and building management equipment at all County government facilities.
- Performs a variety of preventive maintenance activities on a routine basis for a variety of HVAC equipment.
- Assists with troubleshooting, repairs and installs of HVAC, boiler systems and Refrigeration equipment as well as reviews building systems and controls.
- Supports diagnosis efforts and monitors building systems operations. This includes troubleshoot diagnostics from heat pumps, rooftops units, boilers, chillers and cooling towers, CAV’s, VAV’s and commercial self-contained units as send from building management system and recommends repairs or replacement.
- Uses a variety of testing equipment, such as volt/ohm electrical meters, ammeter, refrigerant gauges, leak detectors, psychrometers, manometers, and pneumatic gauges.
- Uses refrigerant recovery machines, scales and charging systems per EPA requirements. Conducts refrigerant equipment repairs, removal of refrigerant according to EPA regulations, soldering and brazing, leak check, installation and charge.
- Analyzes chemical treatment of all closed/open, hot/chilled water loops and adjusts as required per system, while adhering to all governmental regulations.
- References existing schematics, wiring/pneumatic diagrams, blue prints/technical manuals and

- Operates grinders, welders and gas cutting/soldering torches to perform metal fabrication tasks.
- Installs electrical wiring/piping of power and control circuits of all voltages.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Education
o. 2-year degree certificate from vocational/technical training in H.V.A.C. from an accredited school required.
o. Associates degree preferred.
- Certifications
o Certified universal by the EPA in the handling of refrigerants.
o. Must have and maintain a driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
- Job Experience
o. 1-3 years of building maintenance experience.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The purpose of this position is to use advanced knowledge and experience to perform preventive, routine and specialized maintenance duties involving troubleshooting, repair, and/or installation of heating, cooling, ventilation, refrigeration, and building automation equipment at County government facilities. Acts as a lead in the absence of the supervisor. The work is performed under the supervision and reports to the HVAC supervisor.
- Performs a variety of preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs and installs of HVAC building systems and refrigeration equipment as well as building automation systems and controls.
- Diagnoses and monitors building systems operations. Troubleshoots a variety of equipment such as heat pumps, rooftop units, boilers, chillers and cooling towers, CAV’s, VAV’s, FTU’s and commercial self-contained units. Recommends repairs or replacement.
- Monitor daily building automation at a variety of County sites. Respond to building automation alerts as needed and perform corrective action. Make recommendations for improvements.
