St. Catherine University invites applications for a temporary full-time Director for Campus and Residence Life. This 5–6 month appointment provides an exciting opportunity to lead student engagement, residential life, and campus programming while overseeing operational and staff management. Reporting to the Dean of Student Affairs, the Director will supervise professional staff, the LEAD Team, and 40 student workers, coordinate student organizations and orientation programs, and foster an inclusive, safe, and engaging campus environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead residential life and Student Center operations, including staffing, programming, and facilities oversight.
- Advise and support student government and organizations, including training and leadership development.
- Coordinate new student orientation and campus engagement initiatives.
- Oversee leadership development and cultural, social, and recreational programming.
- Respond to student concerns and emergencies, collaborating with campus partners.
- Develop operational processes, including student conduct procedures and a CRA response guide.
- Hire, onboard, and support direct reports as needed.
- Serve as liaison to University committees and initiatives.
Temporary Employee Benefits:
This is a temporary, full-time position. Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (communication, higher education administration, social work, education, psychology, etc.)
- Five (5) years of full-time experience leading higher education (or higher education adjacent) initiatives related to student development, student engagement, residential living, and leadership development.
- Demonstrated experience of supervising full-time professional staff
- Demonstrated positive impacts across diverse populations with culturally relevant program development and administration, staff training and supervision, leadership, decision-making, budget management, and ability to work effectively in a team relationship.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with proficiency in analytical and critical thinking with the ability to make decisions following appropriate consultation.
- Higher education experience related to working within student affairs units such as residence life, student activities, and campus events.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related field (communication, higher education administration, counseling, social work, education, psychology, etc.)
- 2-3 years supervising full time staff, volunteers, and student employees
- Experience related to managing several divergent tasks simultaneously, managing change, and advising student organizations.
- Experience with collegiate housing, residential life and effective supervisory experience is highly desirable.
