FT: Accounting and Tax Compliance Manager, St. Bonaventure
The Accounting and Tax Compliance Manager provides advanced professional accounting, tax compliance, and financial reporting support for the University. This position is responsible for key tax filings, external reporting, fixed asset and debt accounting, year-end close support, and other complex accounting functions. The role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple reporting deadlines in a higher education or nonprofit environment.
The Accounting and Tax Compliance Manager also supports the Controller and Assistant Controller with audit preparation, interim and annual financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and process improvement initiatives. This position supervises the Budget Analyst and works collaboratively with departments across the University to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial information.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
At least five years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
Experience With Federal And State Reporting And Compliance Requirements.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
At least five years experience in accounting, preferably non-profit. Knowledgeable of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and federal and state reporting and compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Public Accountant license or CPA candidate strongly preferred.
Experience in higher education, nonprofit accounting, public accounting, or a complex fund-accounting environment.
Experience with Form 990, sales tax, 1042/1042-S reporting, fixed assets, debt accounting, audit schedules, or external financial reporting.
Experience supervising staff.
Familiarity with ERP systems used in higher education or nonprofit finance.
