Description
Instructional Support Specialist is the primary support for the University learning management system (LMS) including creating, backing up and maintenance of all courses. They will also research, implement and support software applications that are instrumental for instructional and administrative purposes. (examples: Zoom, Qualtrics, Microsoft Office, Turnitin, Respondus). This position provides training/support for all employees needing software technical assistance endorsed by the University.

Examples of Duties
Serve as the technical support contact for faculty, administration and student users of University-supported online teaching and learning systems, including learning management systems, multimedia platforms, and web-based interactive/instructional tools. This includes ticket case management and support via email, phone, and in-person as well as providing training workshops when needed.

Provide maintenance and backend support of Moodle, Zoom, Turnitin, Respondus and other instructional technology solutions. This includes monitoring, independent troubleshooting and resolving issues, new tool and feature testing, access monitoring and serving as a liaison with vendors and other campus constituents on issue resolution and process planning.

Provide faculty and staff professional development in the use of software and other techniques to enhance the classroom experience, the delivery of online courses and business operations.

Provide faculty and staff with support in using instructional technology to enhance teaching, research, and service. Offer expertise and support for faculty who are integrating instructional and new technologies into their course offerings.

Collaborate with faculty in researching, planning and implementing information technology initiatives.

Typical Qualifications
Associates degree in Computer Science or related field is required, Bachelors preferred.
Ability to successfully pass a Level I background check.
Three years’ experience in instructional technology systems with emphasis on customer service and problem resolution.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Solid knowledge of Learning Management Systems such as Moodle, Canvas or D2L, Microsoft Office (specifically, Word, Excel, Access, In-Design, Publisher and Outlook) and web authoring and editing software and have the self-motivation and the ability to stay current with emerging office technologies.
Excellent writing skills and the demonstrated ability to develop written reports and action plans.
Ability to work effectively, decisively and flexibly in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Ability to identify problems and to propose feasible solutions. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines.
Knowledge of the campus community and have the ability to make independent decisions but yet know when supervisory assistance is required. Ability to accept supervision, assignments, change, and correction.
