Located on Main Street in Amherst, New York, Saint Benedict School offers programs in Pre-K3 through 8th grade to 445 students from the surrounding area. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Develop and implement lesson plans that adhere to the New York State standards, utilizing a variety of techniques to motivate, challenge and engage students.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment that promotes academic growth, character development, and spiritual formation.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the individual needs of students and to accommodate various learning styles.
- Establish clear expectations for student behavior and maintain a safe and respectful classroom environment.
- Communicate standards, achievements, and deficiencies through email, phone calls, conferences, and an electronic grade book on a consistent basis
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and administrators to support student success and enhance the overall school community.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices and stay current with educational trends.
- Attend school events including, but not limited to open houses, HSA activities, concerts, etc.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Elementary Education
- Valid New York State Childhood Education (1-6), or comparable certification (preferred)
- Previous teaching experience in an elementary school setting, preferably in a Catholic school environment.
- Strong knowledge of elementary education principles, instructional strategies, and curriculum development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to Catholic teachings and values.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Employment is contingent upon acceptable results of a state and federal background check, completion of VIRTUS Training, reference check and completion of all necessary paperwork.
