What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacy Technician position at St. Barnabas?
The Pharmacy Technician shall perform those tasks that will allow the Pharmacy Department to function in the most productive and efficient manner possible. The Regulations of the Commissioner of Education enumerate tasks from which the Pharmacy Technician is prohibited.
- Floor stock replacements.
- Emergency Kit and Code Cart Replacements. Assist pharmacist is preparation of new orders.
- Prepackage and label drugs.
- Receive drug items.
- Stock shelves with drug items and rotate stock.
- Check for expired drugs.
- Reorder supplies and drugs.
- Restock returns and unused drugs.
Qualifications:
- Completed a Technician Training Program
- Current certification (CPhT) meeting the requirements of the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board
- Minimum of one (1) year experience working as a pharmacy Technician
- Education Required - High School Graduate or possess a High School Equivalency certificate. Completion of Technician Training Program or Foreign college of Pharmacy
- Experience/Skills Required - One year of pharmacy experience (preferably hospital).
