Responsibilities
- Develop, coordinate, and facilitate diverse activity programs aligned with residents’ interests, abilities, and care plans
- Lead engaging recreational activities including arts and crafts, music therapy, games, outings, and special events that promote socialization and cognitive health
- Collaborate with nursing staff, social workers, and family members to tailor activities that support residents’ physical and emotional needs
- Assist residents with daily activities (Activities of Daily Living - ADLs) as needed to encourage participation and independence
- Manage activity schedules efficiently to ensure timely execution of programs while maintaining flexibility for individual preferences
- Monitor residents’ responses to activities, documenting participation levels and behavioral changes for ongoing care planning
- Foster an inclusive environment that respects each resident’s dignity, cultural background, and personal interests
Skills
- Proven experience in event planning within assisted living or nursing home settings
- Strong background in senior care, dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, or long-term care environments
- Excellent communication skills to engage residents effectively and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Knowledge of recreational therapy techniques and working with individuals with disabilities or aging issues
- Ability to organize schedules efficiently while maintaining flexibility for individual needs
- Compassionate caregiving skills combined with a positive attitude and energetic approach
- Familiarity with assisting residents with ADLs and providing counseling on aging-related issues
