📍 St. Augustine, FL
đź’µ $15/hr Bonus Potential

Are you a compassionate, dependable, and structured individual who wants to make a difference in the lives of youth? St. Augustine Youth Services (SAYS) is looking for a dedicated Houseparent to help create a safe, stable, and supportive environment for children and teens with behavioral and mental health challenges.

This isn’t just a job—it’s a calling to nurture, mentor, and guide youth as they work toward healing and success.

About Us:

SAYS serves children and adolescents who have experienced trauma, abuse, or mental health issues. Our therapeutic residential programs are designed to give these youth structure, care, and the chance to thrive in a safe, home-like setting.

Position Overview:

As a Houseparent, you’ll be the heart of the home—providing daily supervision, emotional support, and essential life skills to children in care. You’ll help maintain a consistent routine, model healthy behavior, and ensure each child’s physical and emotional needs are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct supervision and positive behavior management to youth in a residential setting.

  • Be a consistent role model and mentor, teaching life skills and promoting accountability.

  • Offer crisis intervention and, when necessary, utilize approved physical restraint techniques to ensure safety.

  • Plan and conduct group discussions and recreational activities that support social and emotional development.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of daily events, behavior, and interventions per agency protocols.

  • Attend staff and treatment team meetings, contributing valuable insight to each child’s care plan.

  • Assist with meal planning, grocery shopping, food preparation, and creating a homelike environment.

  • Oversee housekeeping tasks and support daily household operations (laundry, cleaning, organizing).

  • Teach and reinforce personal hygiene habits and promote physical health.

  • Manage and document medication administration and ensure availability of correct dosages.

  • Coordinate and provide transportation to medical appointments, school, and activities based on treatment plans.

  • Participate in fundraising efforts and assist with community outreach as needed.

  • Support new client intakes and orientation processes.

  • Follow all organizational policies and procedures, maintain required trainings, and promote agency values.

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED (required)

  • Two years’ experience working with youth with behavioral/mental health challenges, preferably in a residential setting, OR a Bachelor’s degree in a related mental health field

  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record

  • Must pass a Level II background check with a history free from disqualifying offenses on the Affidavit of Good Moral Character

  • Ability to be a positive, professional presence for youth and coworkers alike

  • Commitment to working cooperatively as part of a team

  • Strong consistency and structure in following treatment plans and behavior management protocols

  • A genuine desire to provide a safe, home-like environment for children who need it most

What We Offer:

  • đź’° $15/hour starting pay with bonus opportunities

  • 🏡 A meaningful, mission-driven work environment

  • 📚 Ongoing training and professional development

  • đźš— Mileage reimbursement for travel

  • đź’ˇ The opportunity to transform lives and be a lasting positive influence
