Job Overview
We are seeking a professional and organized Front Office Receptionist to join our healthcare facility. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, managing front desk operations with efficiency and compassion. Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing a welcoming environment
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Carestream WINOMS
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification procedures
- Collect patient records for upcoming appointments
- Identify proper x-rays needed for appointment and upload into patient account
- Schedule patient appointments accurately using dental scheduling software
- Collect payments and perform medical billing and coding tasks, including CPT and ICD coding (ICD-9, ICD-10)
- Review and update medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Handle multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette
- Assist with documentation review, data entry, and maintaining accurate health information management records
- Support administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, copying, and managing office supplies
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA standards
- Coordinate with clinical staff to facilitate care plans and intake procedures
Skills
- Proven experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment, including dental or hospital experience preferred
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Carestream WINOMS
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and medical billing processes
- Familiarity with health information management standards and documentation review practices
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing proficiency (including 10-key typing)
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to handle patient inquiries professionally
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in clerical support tasks such as filing and record keeping
- Ability to manage multi-line phone systems efficiently while maintaining professionalism
- Knowledge of dental terminology and dental office management systems like Carestream WINOMS is advantageous
- Experience in insurance verification processes and office management duties is preferred
