St. Anthony Catholic School is seeking a highly motivated educator to fill our 3-Year-Old Preschool Teacher position for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will be deeply committed to our mission and core values of academic excellence, faithful service, and love for all Christ's children.
This is a part-time position, with an option to work either three or five days per week. In this role, you will create a positive, engaging, and collaborative classroom environment where students can develop academically, socially, and emotionally. You will design play-based, developmentally appropriate lessons that align with Iowa Early Learning standards while seamlessly integrating Christian values. Working as part of a dedicated early childhood team, you will tailor instruction to meet the diverse learning and developmental needs of all students, communicate transparently with families, and actively foster a lifelong love for learning.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, play-based early childhood activities and set clear developmental objectives for students.
- Actively support the Catholic mission of St. Anthony and model Christian values, introducing young children to prayer and kindness.
- Use classroom materials and diverse resources to tailor activities for all learning and developmental needs, including early language acquisition and physical milestones.
- Maintain a safe, positive, and respectful classroom environment following school, diocesan, and state child care licensing guidelines.
- Track and evaluate student developmental progress while keeping accurate, confidential student records.
- Partner closely with preschool associates and early childhood faculty, and maintain frequent, daily or weekly open communication with parents.
- Attend staff and parent meetings, and actively participate in school liturgies, religious functions, and early childhood community events.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, elementary education, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Must hold or be eligible to hold a valid Iowa Teaching License by the start of the school year, with the proper endorsements for early childhood or equivalent state-approved early childhood credentials.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; background in building age-appropriate schedules and routines.
- Competence in basic classroom technology and communication tools.
- Must successfully pass a national criminal background check, fingerprinting, complete the Iowa mandatory reporter training for child abuse, and complete diocesan safe environment training (VIRTUS) prior to employment.
- Constant standing, walking, bending, and kneeling; frequent sitting on the floor and getting up quickly; manual dexterity tasks; ability to frequently lift/carry young children or classroom items up to 40 pounds.
