As a Groundskeeper at St. Ambrose you will be responsible for maintaining the university's outdoor spaces, including lawns, gardens, and pathways. Key Responsibilities Include
- Perform routine maintenance of lawns, gardens, and landscaped areas.
- Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, and blowers.
- Plant, prune, and fertilize trees, shrubs, and flowers.
- Maintain and repair irrigation systems and other landscape infrastructure.
- Ensure pathways, parking lots, and other outdoor areas are clean and free of debris.
- Monitor and address issues related to campus grounds, including pest control and soil health.
- Assist in seasonal projects such as snow removal and leaf collection.
- Provide support to building maintenance staff.
- Collaborate with other facilities staff to support special events and university functions.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in groundskeeping or related field preferred.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining landscaping equipment.
- Ability withstand extremes in temperatures of cold and heat, be able to life 50lbs. repeatedly and 100lbs. occasionally. Position requires considerable amounts of time kneeling, standing, and shoveling repetitively.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and customer-focused attitude.
- Must be able to acquire Iowa Pesticide Application within 12 months of hire to continue employment.
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate university vehicles as needed.
