What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Outreach Director position at SSYMCA?
The Community Program Director supports the Germantown Neighborhood Center, the Hale Family YMCA, and the Phyllis Godwin Empowerment Center. Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, this role is responsible for the effective management of Germantown Neighborhood Center programming and Empowerment Center operations, including:

Fiscal management

Program development and oversight, including grant-funded, non–grant-funded, and Empowerment Center programming

Community relations and outreach, including engagement with volunteers and donors
In partnership with the Food Pantry Director, the Community Program Director is accountable for Food Pantry operations as needed. This role works collaboratively with multiple departments—including Marketing, After School Care, traditional branch operations, and Development—to ensure integrated programming, outreach, and overall operational success.

PROGRAM MANAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT
Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives. Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Incorporate standards of excellence in the areas of safety, service and programming. Incorporate the YMCA Character Development Program into all departmental programs.

STAFF ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT
Recruits, hires, trains, manages, develops, coaches, schedules, and directs staff and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff. Ensures records of required staff certifications are current and complete. Plans, attends and helps facilitate all staff and supervisor meetings.

PARTICIPANT ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT
Builds relationships with and among participants, responds to inquiries and solves problems. Creates a safe and supportive community environment, assists in recruiting and engaging new participants, and connects participants to the YMCA’s cause.

BUDGET & FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
Plans and manages department budgets as approved by the Executive Director in a fiscally responsible manner. Manages program payroll.

FACILITY MANAGEMENT
Provides program facilities for participants that are safe, clean, adequately equipped, well maintained, and attractive.

VOLUNTEER DEVELOPMENT
Builds and develops volunteer and partner capacity, sharing the social responsibility.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT & SUPPORT
Assists in YMCA fund raising activities/events and engages in collaborative relationships with community organizations in order to strengthen support and build community. Specifically works with Quincy Housing Authority and Quincy Public Schools on furthering the mission and building capacity. Will create and maintain meaningful partnerships resulting in mission driven results and further opportunities.

Schedule is mainly evenings and weekends – scheduled flexibility is available

The ability to develop positive, effective working relationships with staff, volunteers, community partners and members are critical to this position.

Valid Driver’s License, ability to drive a van and obtain 7D licensure within 6 months of employment.
Salary : $66,000
