SSD Alarm is seeking a dependable, motivated Fire Systems Estimator to join our Estimating and Engineering team in Sherman, Texas. This is an entry-level opportunity, and prior fire alarm, security, construction, or estimating experience is not required. We are prepared to train the right person from the ground up though prior experience will be considered.

Working under the guidance of experienced team members, the Estimator will learn to review construction documents, perform quantity takeoffs, develop labor and material estimates, and prepare proposal information for fire alarm and related low-voltage systems.
- Review plans, specifications, bid documents, and project information to identify the required scope of work under the guidance of experienced staff.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and help develop labor and material estimates using established company standards, templates, and estimating software.
- Research equipment, pricing, and product information and assist with obtaining vendor or subcontractor quotations when needed.
- Prepare and organize estimate files, proposal support documents, bid notes, and related project records. Track bid deadlines and communicate progress, questions, and potential scope issues to the appropriate team members.
- Coordinate with Sales, Engineering, Drafting, and Operations to help ensure estimates are complete, accurate, and aligned with project requirements.
- Participate in training on fire alarm, security, access control, video surveillance, applicable codes, company standards, and estimating procedures.
- Accept feedback, follow established procedures, and demonstrate steady growth toward completing estimates with increasing independence.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a genuine interest in learning a technical career.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain regular in-person attendance and arrive ready to work each scheduled day.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- General computer and technology literacy, including the ability to learn new software and web-based platforms.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, basic math, and time-management skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to ask questions, follow instructions, and work effectively with a team.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced office environment.
- Experience with fire alarm, security, access control, video surveillance, low-voltage, electrical, construction, estimating, sales, or project coordination.
- Ability to read construction drawings, blueprints, equipment schedules, or technical specifications.
- Experience with estimating software, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or similar technical applications.
- Knowledge of fire alarm or security systems, electrical or control systems, building codes, or local jurisdictional requirements.
- NICET certification or related technical education, training, or industry credentials.
