Job Summary
The Quality Control Inspector II is a senior-level inspection role responsible for verifying product quality through advanced inspection methods, CMM programming, and deep interpretation of engineering drawings and GD&T. This position performs receiving, in-process, and final inspections on machined and molded components across aerospace and industrial applications. QC Inspector II also supports quality planning, corrective action processes, and procedure development in compliance with AS9100 and ISO standards. In addition to standard inspection duties, this role involves programming and operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), maintaining calibration systems, and assisting in Quality System audits and reviews. Strong documentation, communication, and analytical skills are essential, along with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in mechanical inspection within a precision machining or molding environment (required)
- Prior experience in aerospace or engineered industrial manufacturing environments (preferred)
- Demonstrated proficiency with GD&T per ANSI Y14.5, including tolerance interpretation and calculations
- Hands-on experience operating and programming Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs); experience with CMM Manager software (preferred)
- Familiarity with AS9100 and ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
Knowledge
- Advanced Metrology – Skilled in the use of micrometers, calipers, height gauges, thread gauges, and advanced measurement tools
- CMM Operation & Programming – Experience operating and programming Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), including DCC-based systems; familiarity with CMM Manager software (preferred)
- Drawing Interpretation & GD&T – Deep understanding of engineering drawings, tolerance stacks, and geometric dimensioning per ANSI Y14.5
- Inspection Planning – Ability to interpret quality requirements, develop inspection methods, and perform first article, in-process, and final inspections
- Molded Part Inspection – Understanding of dimensional inspection practices for molded components in addition to machined parts
- Quality Systems – Working knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality standards, internal auditing, QMS documentation, and management review processes
- Calibration Systems – Understanding of calibration schedules, traceability requirements, and proper handling of inspection equipment
- Nonconformance Handling – Familiar with root cause analysis, deviation documentation, and participation in corrective and preventive action processes

Primary Job Duties
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections on machined and molded parts using manual and digital inspection tools
- Program and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) for automated and semi-automated part verification
- Verify part conformance to engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements
- Conduct receiving, in-process, and final inspections in accordance with AS9100 and ISO procedures
- Perform and document first article inspections (FAIs) per internal and customer requirements
- Identify non-conformances, generate deviation reports, and participate in root cause and corrective action processes
- Maintain calibration records and ensure all inspection equipment is properly monitored and certified
- Assist in maintaining the Quality Management System (QMS), including document updates and quality manual support
- Participate in quality audits, management review activities, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Provide technical support and mentoring to junior inspectors or production staff when needed
