Spyglass Talent Solutions, a retained recruitment firm based in Raleigh, NC, has been engaged by a well-established, family-owned commercial cleaning and facilities maintenance company based in Raleigh, NC to conduct a search for a Director of Operations.
Reporting to ownership, the Director of Operations will take over day-to-day leadership of the operations function, building the scalable systems, processes, and team structure needed to support the company's continued growth, with the opportunity to grow into an expanded leadership role as the company scales. This role requires strong hands-on operational leadership in a similar blue-collar, high-turnover industry, and the ability to bring structure to a fast-scaling business without slowing down delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, repeatable operational processes and SOPs to replace ad hoc, founder driven problem solving.
- Manage operations team responsible for nighttime service delivery, coaching them into stronger, more independent decision-makers.
- Manage account-level P&Ls, monitoring budgets, targets, and margins, across a growing portfolio of commercial, industrial, and light manufacturing accounts.
- Lead the redesign of the company's account-level P&L process, moving from a manual, ad hoc approach to a scalable system that can be trained and delegated to others over time.
- Partner with ownership to evaluate and help manage a potential reorganization of the operations and account management structure as the team scales.
- Identify, recommend, and drive adoption of technology and software solutions, for scheduling, reporting, and team communication to increase operational efficiency across job sites.
- Travel periodically to Charlotte and Florida markets, and represent the company at industry conferences as needed.
- Communicate effectively and build trust with a diverse, largely Spanish-speaking frontline workforce.
- Champion unwavering client service, proactively addressing account-level concerns to build long-term trust and retention across commercial, industrial, and light manufacturing accounts.
- Collaborate with ownership on strategic growth initiatives, including market expansion and account-level KPIs, to support the company's next growth inflection point.
Qualifications
- 7 years of operations leadership experience within the facilities maintenance/services, janitorial, or related industry required.
- Demonstrated, hands-on experience building and implementing SOPs and scalable processes from the ground up.
- Willingness to be boots-on-the-ground, including after-hours work, to understand real operational challenges before implementing change.
- Working knowledge of P&L management, budgets, margins, and pricing; proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets required, though deep financial expertise is not.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
- Self-starter who thrives with autonomy and is comfortable eventually managing their own schedule.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, operations management, or a related field preferred.
Outcomes
- Within the first 90 days, complete a full tour of company job sites and build working relationships with existing frontline supervisors and account teams.
- Deliver an initial assessment identifying what's working operationally and what needs to change.

Salary : $100,000 - $125,000
