A Calypso Techno-Functional Consultant bridges the gap between capital markets business requirements and the technical execution within the Calypso platform. They design, configure, and customize front-to-back trade lifecycles, pricing environments, and settlement systems while ensuring seamless system integration and production stability. Key Responsibilities
Functional:
- Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with traders, risk managers, and operations teams to capture and document business needs for trade lifecycles across asset classes (FX, Fixed Income, Derivatives, Commodities).
- System Configuration: Configure Calypso modules (Front, Middle, and Back Office), including pricers, curves, risk measures, confirmations, netting, and accounting rules.
- Gap Analysis & Testing: Identify gaps between out-of-the-box Calypso features and business requirements, while developing functional test cases and supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
Technical:
- Development & Customization: Design and implement custom Calypso workflows, scheduled tasks, message matching, and reporting frameworks using Java and Calypso APIs.
- System Integration: Integrate Calypso with upstream/downstream enterprise systems (market data providers, risk engines, downstream clearing/settlement networks) using messaging middleware.
- Production Support & Optimization: Monitor system performance, troubleshoot application issues, and optimize End-of-Day (EOD) batch schedules.
Ideal Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Typically 5-10 years of hands-on working experience as a Calypso developer or analyst (familiar with v14 and higher).
- Technical Stack:
- Strong proficiency in Java/J2EE and Calypso APIs.
- Database proficiency (Oracle PL/SQL, Sybase).
- Experience with Calypso frameworks (Workflows, Engines, Messaging).
- Domain Knowledge: In-depth understanding of financial products, pricing models, market data, and risk management (VAR, Stress Testing, ERS Module).
- Soft Skills: Excellent stakeholder management and the ability to translate complex financial logic into technical solutions.
