This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, innovative, and growing team that will play a key role in driving sales and profit growth for Sprouts. The Manager, Merch Tests & Initiatives will lead a small team focused on partnering with the Merchandising group to drive the business through strategic projects and initiatives.
This Manager will be responsible for tracking, reviewing, and providing actionable insights around all major merchandising initiatives. The team will work cross-functionally with merchandising, operations, supply chain, and other support functions to design and implement key initiatives to drive sales and profitability.
This will be a critical role in the evolution of merchandising at Sprouts and continuing to maintain our position as a leader and authority in the Natural channel. The Manager will be expected to engage in sophisticated analyses for strategic decision-making, as well as leadership presentations around that information. The role is expected to provide timely, accurate and informative analytics. The candidate is expected to be proficient in advanced statistical methods and/or optimization techniques, data mining, and data visualization.
Overview of Responsibilities
- Design and implement analytical tools and reporting
- Engage with business partners to design and implement all major merchandising initiatives in the most efficient, consistent, and informative manner.
- Design and execute analytical tools and reporting to review results of initiatives.
- Leverage internal and external data, combined with a structured testing approach, for the most comprehensive and objective analyses.
- Actively engage with business partners to fully understand the analytical needs, devise approaches and implement solutions via appropriate models.
- Develop prototypes and proofs of concept for analytical approaches to validate assumptions and expected outcomes
- Maintain total merchandising view of tests and initiatives to ensure consistency, communication, and alignment across the team.
- Understand complexities and intricacies of multiple departments & channels to ensure that proposed analytical approaches work across the portfolio
- Effectively present analysis and recommendations to all levels across the organization, including executive leadership.
- In some cases, work with Product Management and IT teams to develop scalable solutions applying the analytics developed.
- Accountable for team development to include recruiting, training, development, and succession planning.
- Serve as project lead for ad hoc projects by managing objectives, deliverables, and key milestones with minimal supervision.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Analytics, or a related field is required. MBA Preferred.
- Minimum experience: 5 years analytics/planning experience in a retail/CPG industry.
- Progressively increasing responsibility in analytical roles; financial planning, merchandise planning, consumer analytics, etc.
- Analytical mindset with detail orientation and entrepreneurial work ethic.
- Proven ability to execute with speed and a high degree of accuracy in a proof of concept environment.
- Comfortable manipulating large amounts of data and problem-solving, generating impactful recommendations – bringing insights to action
- Highly adept in various systems, including superior Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Strong experience with data visualization/dashboarding.
- Strong mathematical background and hands-on experience in conducting statistical analysis, development of quantitative models and machine learning algorithms, and/or optimization routines
- Proven ability in applying theoretical knowledge to practical applications, data analysis, algorithmic prototyping, and data visualization
- Demonstrated skill with root cause analysis; able to spot when something isn’t quite right and audit with limited guidance
- A structured and creative thinker, able to toggle easily between the big themes and the little details
- Experience building, leading, supervising teams
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence
