Overview

As the Director of Operations Inventory Management, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing all operations-related inventory management activities across all stores throughout the company. This role will drive consistency in in-stock levels, in-store replenishment processes, and receiving operations.

 

The Director of Operations Inventory Management will work closely with store teams, field leadership, and the various teams at the support office to ensure inventory accuracy, optimize stock flow, and enhance operational efficiency. This is a strategic role that requires leadership, data-driven decision- making, and a deep understanding of retail inventory management. We are looking for a driven individual who works well in a fast-paced environment, has strong analytical skills, and can handle managing several tasks simultaneously.


Overview of Responsibilities

  • Company – Wide Inventory Management
    • Oversee inventory management processes across all stores to ensure optimal in-stock levels and product availability.
    • Develop company-wide policies and procedures that drive inventory accuracy, improve in- stock, minimize waste, and optimize labor associated with inventory management tasks.
    • Monitor inventory metrics and analyze performance data to identify trends, address issues, and recommend solutions.
  • Receiving Standards and Compliance
    • Establish and standardize receiving procedures for all stores to ensure timely, accurate, and consistent product intake.
    • Partner with region, district, and store teams to address shipment discrepancies, compliance issues, and vendor-related challenges.
    • Audit store receiving operations to ensure adherence to company policies and best
  • In-Store Replenishment Strategies
    • Design and implement in-store replenishment strategies that align with sales forecasts, seasonal trends, and regional differences.
    • Collaborate with merchandising, schematic, and supply chain teams to coordinate product allocations/distribution and optimize product availability.
    • Optimize in-store replenishment processes to improve inventory turns and minimize overstock scenarios.
  • Leadership and Collaboration
    • Serve as the primary liaison between the support office and store/field leadership concerning inventory management.
    • Provide training and support to store and field leadership on best practices and new
    • Lead cross-functional projects aimed at improving inventory efficiency and performance.
  • Technology and Process Improvement
    • Leverage inventory management systems to monitor stock levels, generate insights, and drive operational decisions.
    • Identify opportunities for process automation and system enhancements to improve
    • Collaborate with the various teams at the support office to discover, develop, design, and deploy systems and tools to support inventory management optimization.
  • Operational Excellence
    • Conduct regular audits of store inventory processes to ensure consistency and compliance with standards.
    • Partner with finance, merchandising, and supply chain departments to align inventory strategies with company goals.
    • Develop reporting mechanisms to track and communicate inventory performance to field and support office leadership teams.

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, business management, or similar field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in inventory management, supply chain, or a related field with multi-store or corporate-level responsibilities preferred.
    • Excellent working knowledge of department processes and merchandising in a grocery retail
    • Proven track record of leading and implementing large-scale inventory
  • Skills and Competencies
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data
    • Proficiency in inventory management systems (e.g., Workday, ThinStore, IMS, PI/CAO, Production Planning) and job support software such as MS Office.
    • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal
    • Ability to influence cross-functional teams and lead organizational
    • Strong project management skills, and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced
  • Supervisory Responsibilities
    • Receiving Training Manager
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
    • None is required, although Lean Six Sigma experience is
  • Physical Demands and Work Environment
    • The physical demands and work environment are characteristic of those in a typical business office environment. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
    • The position is based at the Support Office, and candidates must be able to work on-site. The role is not eligible for remote or work-from-home arrangements.
    • Must be able to travel up to 50%
