What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Project Portfolio Manager position at Sprint Food Stores?

Position Summary:

This role is responsible for leading and overseeing the COO’s project portfolio. As the Project Portfolio Manager, you will play a pivotal role in aligning projects with our strategic goals, optimizing resource allocation, and ensuring successful project delivery. Your ability to prioritize, analyze, and manage projects will be essential in driving our organization's growth and success. Responsibilities:

1.       Develop and implement a comprehensive project portfolio management strategy that aligns with the organization's strategic objectives.

2.       Lead the identification, evaluation, and selection of projects for inclusion in the portfolio, considering factors such as ROI, risk, resource availability, and alignment with business goals.

3.       Collaborate with senior leadership to define project priorities, objectives, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure portfolio performance.

4.       Ensure effective resource allocation across projects by managing resource capacity and demand, balancing workload, and addressing potential bottlenecks.

5.       Monitor and report on the overall health and progress of the project portfolio, providing regular updates to stakeholders and senior management.

6.       Implement and maintain portfolio management processes, standards, and best practices, ensuring consistent project execution and governance.

7.       Work closely with project managers to provide guidance, support, and coaching on project management best practices, ensuring successful project delivery.

8.       Identify and manage portfolio-level risks and issues, implementing mitigation strategies and escalation procedures as necessary.

9.       Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline communication, facilitate knowledge sharing, and enhance collaboration across projects.

10.    Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the project portfolio management framework, adapting processes to changing business needs and industry trends.

11.    Participate in portfolio reviews, steering committees, and executive meetings to provide insights, recommendations, and strategic guidance.

12.    Must be able to perform the essential functions of this role with or without reasonable accommodations.

 

Working Relationships:

This position will work with all departments in the Store Support Center, Retail Operations, Vendors, and external Stakeholders.


Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or related field. PMP Certification or willingness to attain

Preferred Education:

Master’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or related field. PMP Certification or willingness to attain.

Preferred Experience:

  • 10 years of relevant experience. 
  • Proven experience in project portfolio management, including the management of a diverse portfolio of projects. 
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies, frameworks, and best practices.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to align projects with organizational goals and assess their impact on the business.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in project portfolio management software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.

 

Licenses/Certifications:

PMP or other relevant project management certification is a plus.

Other Requirements:

Travel: Some travel required.  

Hours & Conditions: Typically, Monday – Friday for 8 hours/day during normal business hours

Physical Conditions:  Ability to maneuver and regularly lift and or move up to 10 pounds.  Ability to stand/walk 8 hours a day.

Salary : $105,375 - $140,500
