Parks Maintenance Worker - Seasonal

Department:Parks & RecreationPosition Reports to:City Parks SupervisorPay Grade:1Employment Type:Seasonal HoursExempt/Nonexempt:Non-exemptDescription:Under the direction of the City Parks Supervisor, performs duties necessary for the operation, maintenance, and upkeep of City parks and public property. Duties:Daily maintenance of City or Canyon parks/properties, cemeteries, and trees including turf grass care, flower/shrub/tree planter care, tree care, and grounds maintenance. Visually check all City or Canyon Park and Cemeteries surface areas each day for safety compliance and cleanliness. Clean restrooms, pavilions, and picnic tables in City or Canyon Parks and Cemeteries. Pick up garbage and litter in City or Canyon Parks and Cemeteries. Carry out minor repairs and maintenance as needed. Assist with sprinkler repair as needed. Operate landscape maintenance equipment as needed, and at various sites. Attend required monthly staff safety meetings. Occasionally perform functions on holidays and weekends as assigned. Must have professional positive attitude with good communication and customer service skills. All other duties as assigned by staff leadership.Qualifications:Must be at least 18 years of age. Experience in grounds maintenance preferred, but not required. Must have a valid Utah Driver's License with a clean driving record. Some positions available for 16 and over.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESMust be able to legally drive a City owned fleet vehicle under government guidelines. Must be able to safely operate and use landscape maintenance equipment and cleaning supplies. Must be able to read and write legibly. Must be able to follow directions and perform work assignments.Physical Demands:Must be physically fit enough to walk long distances, work outside in all types of weather, lift 50 lbs., bend, stoop, crawl and sit.Drug screen and background checks performed
