The Cost Accountant is responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing cost accounting data to support financial decision-making across the hospital. This mid-level role works extensively with CostFlex and/or other cost accounting systems to produce routine and ad hoc reports for hospital administration, directors, and department leadership. The position supports cost center-level analysis, service line profitability, budgeting, and operational efficiency initiatives.
Pre-Employment Requirements:

Education Requirements:
- Validation of a High school diploma/GED required .
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Healthcare Administration preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 2-4 years of cost accounting and financial analysis experience, preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting.
- Hands-on experience with healthcare cost accounting applications.
- Experience working with cost centers, allocations, and departmental financial reporting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of healthcare finance, hospital cost structures, and reimbursement concepts.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and Access; experience with financial reporting tools and ERP systems.
- Ability to analyze complex datasets and communicate findings clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet reporting deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
